Welcome to Secret Place. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Secret Place mobile application and web services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By creating an account, downloading our app, or using any part of our Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Secret Place is a personal spiritual companion app that combines prayer journaling, Bible study, conversational Bible chat, and optional screen-time controls to help you build consistent habits. The Service allows you to:
Earned minutes and rewards are a motivational feature, not cash value, transferable property, or a guarantee of any particular outcome. We may adjust or discontinue reward mechanics with reasonable notice where required.
Important: Your Spiritual Content Stays on Your Device
Secret Place stores your prayers, voice recordings (if saved), chat sessions (including Bible chat), Bible study sessions, and related journal or session content locally on your device. We do not store that content in the cloud or on our servers for retrieval by us.
Screen-time settings, earned-minute balances, and similar app state tied to these features are also kept on your device as part of the app—not as a cloud backup of your spiritual content.
This keeps your sessions private and under your control, but it also means you are responsible for backups where the app offers export (for example, CSV for prayers) and for understanding that replacing a device or deleting the app without exporting may result in permanent loss of local data.

Because prayers, chats, Bible study sessions, and related content are stored locally on your device, Secret Place is not responsible for any loss of that data due to device loss, theft, damage, operating system updates, app deletion, account deletion, device upgrades, or any other circumstance. We strongly encourage you to use export and backup options where the app provides them.
When you use voice-to-text, Bible chat, or other AI-assisted features, your audio or text may be processed by third-party AI services (such as OpenAI) to produce transcripts or replies. While we use secure connections, content may be transmitted temporarily for processing. What you save in the app is stored locally on your device. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
Screen-time tools are provided to support your choices about device use; they are not a substitute for supervision, professional counseling, or medical advice. Earned minutes and related mechanics may depend on how you use Bible study, Bible chat, prayer, and other in-app activities. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of any third-party APIs (for example, Bible text providers) or specific reward rates.

The Secret Place app, including its design, code, features, and content (excluding your personal prayer entries and your own chat or study notes), is owned by Secret Place and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You retain full ownership of your user-generated spiritual content.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Secret Place is a tool to support your prayer life, but it is not a substitute for pastoral counseling, mental health services, or medical advice. We make no guarantees about spiritual outcomes or experiences.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SECRET PLACE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PRAYER DATA, LOSS OF DEVICE FUNCTIONALITY, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.
We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
If you delete your account, your account credentials and associated records we hold are removed in line with our Privacy Policy. Because prayers, chats, Bible study sessions, and related content live on your device—not in our cloud—that local data is ephemeral from our perspective: it is deleted from the app when you complete account deletion in the app or remove the app, and we do not retain copies. Export any data you wish to keep before deleting your account or uninstalling.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms within the app or via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts located in the United States.
